A life-cycle assessment (LCA) of Italian textile company Manteco's MWool recycled wool has concluded that its environmental impact is 60 per cent lower than that of virgin fibres.The LCA study, by scientists at the Polytechnic University of Turin, has been published in the Resources peer-reviewed scientific journal.MWool is said to be the world's first recycled wool to undergo an LCA assessment to calculate its overall environmental impact, according to Manteco. Manteco, Italian manufacturer focused on producing mostly wool fabrics responsibly, is constantly involved with different collaborations. After various projects with Alessandro Squarzi's Fortela and Stiksen hats, among others, its most recent one was carried ahead with Italian fashion designer Alessandro Vigilante for his f/w 2022/2023 collection. In 2021, within the contest Who Is On Next 2021, Manteco awarded him with its Manteco Prize. “This is the first time we collaborate with Vigilante. We were impressed by his very clean and elegant style, strongly inspired by the world of dance. By giving him this award, we secured him a supply of fabrics for two collections.
