The project was called #RECYNAISSANCE and has allowed the talents of the famous fashion school to test themselves with one of the most demanded skills in the present design world: reusing, as a stimulus for creativity. Manteco, which has always collaborated with the best fashion and luxury houses, has always considered the concept of upcycling as an important form of sustainability, and a new approach to contemporary fashion. Manteco asked the best talents of Istituto Marangoni to present their personal idea of sustainability through the #RECYNAISSANCE contest, a theme that combines recycling, upcycling and the idea of the Renaissance, symbol of Manteco’s homeland, Tuscany, and never as now a hope in difficult times due to the Coronavirus.
According to a jury composed of the academic team of Istituto Marangoni and Manteco, the winning projects were the one created by: Filippo Cascinelli, Maria Consolazio, Antea Galiazzo, Melissa Musolino, Antonio Princigalli, Emma Solzi. “#RECYNAISSANCE was a special occasion for our talents to measure themselves against extremely current and fundamental issues of the fashion industry. Being a professional of the future means knowing how to reflect on urgent issues and, at at the same time giving new life and value through creativity. ” – explained Barbara Toscano, Director of Istituto Marangoni Milano Fashion.
