Manteco fabrics in "AT THIS STAGE" by GILBERTO CALZOLARI
A capsule collection with a double meaning
GILBERTO CALZOLARI used sustainable Manteco fabrics to create a collection that investigates the consequences of the pandemic have experienced
At first reading, “At this stage” is a reflection on this moment – where we are and where we want to go – in a period that has forced the whole world to reflect and to go back to the basics, to the essence. “I have always loved playing on contrasts, I find them interesting and vital, and above all, they reflect contradictions of our existence. So, in this collection I wanted to make sobriety and eccentricity collide, rigor and shots madness, a bit like our lives are in this period. I wanted to convey a melancholy romance towards what will no longer be, but also a feeling of rebellion and energy, of the desire to react and to do, towards a future free from all the constraints of the moment”. The second meaning of “At this stage” is clearly shown through the video of the collection. In fact, it was entirely shot inside the Franco Parenti Theater in Milan, courtesy of Andrée Ruth Shammah. The choice is not absolutely random: theaters, cinemas, museums and places of culture have been closed from too long and we need it like air to breathe.
