Manteco, società toscana specializzata nella produzione di tessuti, esporrà per la prima volta le proprie proposte eco-sostenibili presso la Smart Creation Area di Première Vision, la manifestazione parigina prevista dal 17 al 19 settembre nel Parc des Expositions di Paris. Smart Creation è la piattaforma della fiera dedicata alle realtà che hanno dimostrato un impegno concreto nei confronti dell’innovazione responsabile, ricercando soluzioni sostenibili di nuova generazione. In questo contesto, l’azienda toscana presenterà le sue ultime proposte di "new generation wool", ottenute da innovativi processi di lavorazione e controllo per la produzione della lana riciclata. Tra queste: BiBye, una lana superfine che proviene dai migliori allevamenti in Australia e Nuova Zelanda, e Woolten, un tessuto che nasce da uno speciale filato cardato brevettato, che unisce la nuova generazione di lana riciclata Manteco e il Tencel di Lenzing. La società presenterà inoltre Renowa, il suo sistema di economia circolare zero waste, completamente integrato e tracciato, che permette ai clienti di dare nuova vita ai loro scarti di tessuto di produzione e vederli trasformati in nuovi tessuti smart Manteco. “Lavoriamo 1.650 tonnellate di materiale riciclato all’anno, spesso partendo da materiali post consumo, per noi una materia prima preziosa per alcuni degli sviluppi più all'avanguardia. Quindi, lo mescoliamo con altre fibre sostenibili per offrire soluzioni qualificate e innovative”, ha dichiarato Matteo Mantellassi, CEO di Manteco. I risultati di tale impegno si quantificano nel risparmio 24,8 tonnellate di prodotti coloranti, 4,9 milioni di kWh di energia e 1.484 tonnellate di anidride carbonica all'anno. Fondata nel 1943 a Prato da Enzo Mantellassi, Manteco ha chiuso il 2018 con un fatturato di 80 milioni di euro, in crescita dell’11% rispetto all’anno precedente, realizzato per il 90% fuori dall’Italia; il primo mercato estero di riferimento è l’Europa.

Un’azienda tessile storica di Prato, fondata nel 1943, oggi specializzata nella produzione di lana e tessuti sostenibili e rigenerati per i più prestigiosi marchi della moda internazionale e vincitrice nel 2018 del premio Radical Green. 2018 has been a year rich in events at Manteco to celebrate its 75th anniversary. The exclusive party held at the Secret Gallery in Paris, during the Premiere Vision show was the latest of a series of exciting events which marked the year 2018 for the Prato-based company. In March, Manteco was awarded the Radical Green Prize on the occasion of the 2018 Green Week - Festival of Trento’s Green Economy , for the company’s commitment to both process control and traceability of the textile supply chain and raw materials and increase in the production of regenerated fabrics, according to the circular economy principles. Manteco Historical Archives In May, the company inaugurated the Manteco Historical Archives, a project which gives customers access to an unprecedented amount of archive material. Over 40,000 textile samples have been inventoried, catalogued and digitized to preserve the company’s historic heritage, the fruit of many years of research and experimentation. Waterbones In June, Manteco’s collaboration with artist Loris Cecchini culminated in the installation, on the façade of Florence’s Gallery Hotel Art, of thousands of steel modules sculpted into the most diverse shapes. The artwork will be on show until December 31 and the photos appear also in the artist’s catalogue, whose cover is made of a fabric specially designed by the Manteco team and composed of carded wool (the company’s signature product), lamé and polyester. Cecchini’s new work of art, revolving again around the “waterbones” theme and specially created for the preview in Paris, will be introduced at a special event on the days of the Première Vision show, during which Manteco will celebrate its 75th anniversary by connecting, through an imaginary thread made of art and textile excellence, Paris and Florence. At the end of the Parisian show, the work of art will be placed at the entrance of Manteco’s headquarters. Loris Cecchini Loris Cecchini was born in Milan in 1969; he lives and works between Milan and Tuscany. He has shown his works at solo exhibitions at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris , PS1 in New York, Shanghai Duolun MoMA, Centro Pecci of Prato, Musée d’Art Moderne Métropole of Saint-Etienne and he took part in a number of international art events, including Rome’s Quadriennale, the Venice Biennale, Taipei Biennial, Biennial Valencia and Shanghai Biennale.

Behind the sustainable approach and the premium quality textiles there are generations of ‘saper fare’ - know-how, in Italian - indeed, Manteco’s products are not only responsibly Made in Italy but imbued with the skills of the artisans and makers working within 10 kms around the company. “Made in Italy does not only mean processing high-quality materials with international technologies and then label the final product for export. Manteco is able to verify each single production phase from raw material, yarn, spinning, weaving, to the finished fabric. “We process 1.650 tons of recycled material per year; often starting with post-consumer material, for us a precious raw material for some of the most cutting-edge developments. Then, we blend it with other sustainable fibers in order to offer properly qualified and innovative solutions”. The results of such commitment can be quantified in the saving of 41 million liters of water, 24,8 tons of dye products, 4,9 million kWh of energy and 1.484 tons of carbon dioxide per year. Manteco, a premium wool manufacturer with a capacity of production of more than seven million metres of fabric per year, has launched a new ingredient, MWool, the ‘upgraded’ recycled wool born from the company’s cutting edge Manteco System combined with sustainable innovation and heritage. MWool is both a smart ingredient and a ground-breaking brand. MWool is a key ingredient of Manteco ranges. Manteco is processing through its system ca 1.650 tons of recycled wool that can be transformed in MWool and can carry, if requested, the global recycled standard (GRS) certification promoted by the influential textile exchange. GRS verifies and certificates recycled products as well as company’s responsible social, environmental and chemical practices, the company said in a media statement. Manteco can save ca 41,3 million of litres of water, 24,8 tons of dyes, 4,9 million kw of energy (the annual consumption of the whole Miami population), 1.484 tons of carbon dioxide. The wool goes through the reliable Manteco System quality control checks of excellence, no compromises: from the raw material, to yarn, fabric, finishing, from all aspects physical and chemical. “MWool is the natural result of our path towards a new generation of sustainability. It’s at the same time our past and our future. Our know-how and expertise and our innovation and vision for sustainable fashion. That’s why the term recycled wool wasn’t enough. Italian wool producer Manteco has revolutionised its production in recent seasons, and for autumn 20, 80% of its entire collection will be made from post-consumer waste wool. Working with certified suppliers of waste wool from around the globe, the company takes the old materials and respins them into new yarns at its headquarters in Prato, Italy. Rather than re-dying the textiles, yarns of different colours are blended to create new shades,  thus saving water and chemicals. For autumn 20, it is collaborating with Lenzing for a wool and Tencel blend range, which it hopes will increase the usability of its fabrics for the end consumer by creating warmer and softer yarns.
