Istituto Modartech + Manteco Academy's 2024 MANTECO SUSTAINABILITY AWARD
The first MANTECO SUSTAINABILITY AWARD with Istituto Modartech had two winning projects: "EN DEVENIR" by Federica Petri, Jacopo Fe and Giulia Peirano; and "NEW NOMAD" by Vittoria Colledan and Valentina Stecca
We arranged the first Manteco Sustainability Award with the Fashion Design students of Istituto Modartech, as we wanted to test their skills and let work on circular and sustainable fashion. The contest involved 10 groups of students and the choice was so difficult that we selected two winning projects.
"EN DEVENIR" by Federica Petri, Jacopo Fe and Giulia Peirano | We decided to award this project for the extreme and ingenious modularity of all elements of the outfit, combined with elegance and saleability.
“In a world increasingly embracing eco-friendly lifestyles, mindful of waste, environmental protection, and social welfare, “En Devenir” adheres to the ethos of conscious and sustainable fashion, seamlessly integrating with the fast-paced life and consumerism. The compulsive buying habits, overflowing closets, and cheap wardrobes synonymous with fast fashion are being challenged and transformed, starting with the use of textiles. En devenir embraces the theme of wool recycling, as Manteco’s fabrics are continuously revitalized. The goal is to provide a sustainable solution to the pressing demand for versatile outfits suitable for the various occasions that arise throughout a typical workday. Utilizing invisible zippers and buttons, En devenir adapts and accompanies the wearer through every moment.”
"NEW NOMAD" by Vittoria Colledan and Valentina Stecca | We decided to award this project for the beautiful upcycling reinterpretation of an iconic garment, which has been made more beautiful and much more functional.
“Our design is based on four key concepts: movement, practicality, nomadism and comfort. We designed each piece with the goal of facilitating the lives of those who are always on the move, who travel frequently and use various means of transportation. Movement is at the core of our design. Each piece is designed to adapt and respond to the movement of the body, allowing freedom of movement without restriction. Practicality is another key element of our design. Each piece is designed to be easy to put on, take off, and store, making every outfit change or preparation for a trip a stress-free experience.
Nomadism is our inspiration. We designed our garments with those who never stop, who are always on the move, who experience life without boundaries.
Finally, comfort. We have selected high-quality materials that are comfortable suitable for wearing for long periods of time. Our design is aimed at all those who see the world as their home, for those who see travel not as an obstacle but as an opportunity.”
