Institut Français de la Mode + Manteco Academy's 2024 MANTECO SUSTAINABILITY AWARD
The second MANTECO SUSTAINABILITY AWARD with Institut Français de la Mode was won by the visionary students of GROUP 9 and their "Corporate Cocoon": Sophie Gontard, Emily Atkin, Maja Lenhard, Leander Aiguier, Paul Reisinger.
The Manteco Sustainability Award is a fashion contest for all those students who want to test their skills in terms of eco-design and circular fashion. The amazing students of Institut Français de la Mode were given an exclusive lesson by Manteco® about circular fashion and then were asked to do a project that represents their idea of circular economy and sustainability in fashion.
The contest involved 15 groups of students and was won by GROUP 9 (Sophie Gontard, Emily Atkin, Maja Lenhard, Leander Aiguier, Paul Reisinger) and their amazing “Corporate Cocoon”.
Why is the "Corporate Cocoon" so special?
The Corporate Cocoon is everything you need for a day of work. It is a garmentbag that transforms into an outfit, rethinking the attire business. The outfit consists of an overcoat, a pair of tailored pants and a classic, sleveless top. It is designed to be a stylish and practical item, in order to adjust to the many occasions of a working lifestyle.
To access the outfit, simply unzip the two zippers on either side to reveal the coat sleeves. Then once the middle zipper is unzipped as well, your whole outfit is inside of the coat. Step inside the trousers and zip them up. The last step is to close the top with the button and you‘re all set.
As the students have it: “For this project, we kept sustainability in mind. We are only using one material, and because of that, it can be recycled as one piece. Since the zippers that we use are only topstitched, they can easily be removed. The pattern pieces are mostly simple, straight cuts to minimize the fabric waste as much as possible.”
