CircularKnit 2.0 by Manteco, Shima Seiki Italia and Arman Avetikyan

Manteco, Shima Seiki Italia, and Arman Avetikyan Present CircularKnit 2.0 – A 100% Recycled, 100% Recyclable, and Zero-Waste Knitwear Garment

A groundbreaking collaboration that explores the boundaries of circular fashion and demonstrates how design, wool, and technological innovation can create exemplary solutions. This project is not just about creating garments—it’s about rethinking how fashion can function responsibly at every step of the process. By integrating cutting-edge technologies like Shima Seiki’s WHOLEGARMENT® and innovative fibers like MWool®, we’re delivering a real, scalable solution to the challenges facing the fashion industry.

Nr. 1

100% Recycled

This garment is made with Manteco®’s innovative, patented, 100% MWool® yarn, the next generation of recycled wool produced entirely from post-consumer and pre-consumer materials. MWool® is a low-impact fiber that, compared to generic virgin wool fibers, reduces climate change impact by 99.2%, water use by 99.9%, and total energy consumption by 93.3%. These impressive reductions are verified by peer-reviewed Life Cycle Assessments and EPD® certifications.

Nr. 2

100% Recyclable

This knitwear garment is made using a highly recyclable fiber like MWool®. It is monomaterial and, just as importantly, seamless, thanks to Shima Seiki’s WHOLEGARMENT® technology. This makes the garment fully—and easily—recyclable at the end of its lifecycle, without the need for time-consuming and complex disassembly processes.

Nr. 3

100% Zero-Waste

Using Shima Seiki’s WHOLEGARMENT® technology, these pieces are knitted directly from yarn, without cutting, sewing, or leftover material. This groundbreaking zero-waste production method ensures that each garment is crafted without producing any textile waste. WHOLEGARMENT® products are knit in three dimensions without seams, offering benefits never before seen in other types of garments.

Nr. 4

100% Modular and Genderless

To align with circular economy principles and encourage greater use over time, these garments have been designed to be genderless and they are composed of modular elements, allowing them to be adapted and styled for different occasions and contexts. This approach promotes long-term versatility, extending the life cycle of each piece by making it relevant across seasons, styles, and identities. The goal is simple: fewer garments, more possibilities, without compromising on aesthetic or functionality.
