Manteco fabrics for "ACT III - ORGASMIC BODY" collection by ALESSANDRO VIGILANTE

ACT III - ORGASMIC BODY: Alessandro Vigilante's A-I 2022/2023 collection

An almost challenging representation of a freedom: pure energy and intense gestures dress and design these bodies in motion, in a formal synthesis of sensuality and rigor.

Alessandro Vigilante has created a mix of harmony, attention to detail, transparencies and vivid colors. A collection that is full of meanings and that can be adapted to different interpretations. The contemporary movements of the famous choreography by Jiri Kylián, on music from the Adagio 23 K.488 and the andante of the concert no. 21, K.467 by Mozart, is the main source of inspiration. A great sense of balance and fluidity, and the strong lines of this collection are a delicate call to a free expression of pleasure. Everything was developed with Manteco fabrics: from technical jersey, in perfect adherence to sculpted bodies, to the iconic cloth – used for coats, blazers and skirts – accompanied by needle-punched bouclé and wool-alpaca, both shaggy look and maki check.

Alessandro Vigilante is an italian fashion designer born in Puglia. He studied fashion design at the IED Moda Lab in Milan, where he was chosen by Franca Sozzani to show his personal collection during Milan fashion week in September 2006, following the victory of the competition called “My own show”. He graduated with honors. The 7-year work experience at Dolce & Gabbana was the beginning of a 15-year career, during which the designer was responsible for the women’s collections at Gucci, and Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini. Over the years, he has refined his ability to transform himself through the lens of the various brands he’s worked for. With his first personal collection he finally had the opportunity to put into practice what he had learned and what he had always wanted to do. His goal is to instill the brand with a new culture, with a multidisciplinary approach, through the mixture of artistic languages, first of all by mutually influencing both dance and fashion. Alessandro is a former professional dancer, he is still fascinated by the world of dance; it is an essential and lively source of inspiration for him. He has directly studied the various techniques created by sacred dance monsters such as Pina Bausch, Merce Cunningham, Akram Khan and Ohad Naharin (Mr Gaga). He experiences dance in a sensorial way, through exercise on his body, and wants to transfer the same idea of freedom and dynamism, experienced through dance, in the spirit of the Brand. As a spectator of dance performances, he is intrigued by shapes, silhouettes, the use of space and light and the scenic rendering. The eloquent dialogue between the artistic disciplines is also expressed through his interest in interior design, architecture, performance art, painting, sculpture, photography, theater and reading. Alessandro Vigilante explores femininity through perfectly dosed and expertly orchestrated contrasts between sensuality and austerity, celebrating femininity with a masculine touch. Passionate about all expressions of femininity, his ideal is in evolution as is the dynamic reality of daily life; it is aimed at women of different characteristics, ages, proportions and ethnicities, adapting to every occasion. He expresses his vision through the sculpture of the body, the innovation of materials, fluidity and clean, graphic lines.
